Please dont cheat!

Speeds over 55mph need to be verified by a 3rd Party

"Images of GPS are a must please ensure you have one available for posting, only in exceptional circumstances will speed be ranked without a picture to Verify."

Unverified Section comming Shortly, this is the top unofficial Speed

I have done 53.8mph on Hoylake and Sir Harvo on the Flexi forum has managed
59.9mph on Ainsdale beach. All via GPS but because it is fairly common to
do these speed when racing, there are no pictures.

50mph is a regular on a good day with a good buggy.

Here is my personal top speed in a buggy - 101 KPH \ 62 MPH
On the 03\03\2006 I finally broke the 100 kph barrier after years of
trying I did it using a Peter Lynn Comp Buggy with upgraded 32mm
extended side frames ,a 1.4m giga strone axle and a 5 wheel kit. Wheels
were alloy rims with treaded tyres Buggy mass is 35kg,driver mass is
70kg and I carried 40kg ballast The kite was a 12m Naish Shockwave hard
wired to the buggy frame The beach was Muriwai ,New Zealand .

Soft ,damp ,black iron sand with a 2km run in 25-40 knots cross onshore (south
>west) Most of the runs that day were

Stories/excuses

I am the owner of the kite shop Kiteworks www.kiteworks.co.nz and have been buggying for about 10 years.

Unfortunatly I don`t have any way of verifiy the run I did ,all I have
is the gps reading.
Next time I will set up a video camera on the buggy with the gps in shot
I am also working on downloading the gps logs to my pc.
It took me half an hour to get up enough courage to solo launch the 12m
shockwave on that day ,as there was no one around.
Some blowcarters turned up later (mini land yachts) and my mate lucas

caught my kite at the end of my session but no one saw the 100 kph run. I had
so much power running through the buggy it was being picked up and
thrown sideways by the gusts in the wind. Slowing down took about 100m of sideways scrub.
I am looking foward to the next 30-40 knot day so I can repeat the
experience

Regards
Perrin

Stories/excuses

AngliaFest II - a long weekend of beer and kites. after a fairly
unspectacular day at Oxwich beach on the Saturday, by Sunday (01/10/06)
the wind had swung round more from the west making Llangennith beach the

better option. Getting to the beach the sand was being blown in clouds
from the top of the Dunes. The wind started at about 25-28mph, my first

few runs down the beach were without the GPS, after a short break I went

out again doing 50mph up the beach having a slow run back up the beach
cutting back in the really going for it I managed to hit and stay at 55
for at least half the 1.5mile run.

Speed can be verified by Al (Rayens) - Atmosphere Kites, Bristol.

I down sized to the 4m and it felt perfect for the conditions. Up and down the run I went and couldn't get past my 51mph best. I must have done 20-30 runs when, I seemed to hit that sweet spot again and the rest as they say is history 52.2mph on my GPS...chuffed to bits. I am now getting feeling to get much more speed I need a kite that will sit further forward in the window...(hmm a race kite).

Stories/excuses

Since then i have hit 52mph on Brancaster beach on a 6m Phantom with about 1/4 mile of run if that... On wet sand. But have no proof from my GPS.

Not a totally in control 49.4, but it beat my last speed. Running up and down beach in heavy rain and then IT CAME, massive squal, accelerated to 49 in approx 150-200m probably less, had to throw kite as there was too much water on beach to slow down, annoyed really as it was on shore!!! Common sense prevailed though!!!

My top speed ever was 66 kph (41 mph) but didn't photograph it. Attached is a photo of one of my speeds at 63.2 kph (is (39.3 mph). Sorry don't have a pic above the 40mph barrier.
Keep in mind this was done using bigfoots across the desert floor.
It might not seem much to the 50 mph merchants but to me it was quite exhilarating and felt like I was flying.

Having only got a top speed before this of 27Mph. My Buggying has been likened to a Saturday night cruise down the Kings Road. I was inspired by Gail (Flossie) who got over 33mph on this day. I was not going to let a mere girl beat me!!! I went out with a clearish beach and worked that little kite all the way. How I managed to stop I don’t know. Watch this space I will beat this run.

Stories/excuses

I have easy access to a relatively small beach it is only 40 meters wide at low tide, by the time high tide comes along there is no beach  left at all. It is fairly short as well, at best it is 1km long. I  arrived mid morning a couple of hours before high tide, I started the  day with my ozone access 6m and was having a grand time with runsfrequently in the 40 km range. The day wore on and the weather became  better and more sunbathers appeared. I decided that safety first and  reluctantly switched to a 2m Sammie. I was still having loads of fun at a much more sedate pace. The weather as typical for this area  changed again the wind switched from off shore to on, building as it  usually does. It also brought with it some fog and mist, and chasing

away the sunbathers. I decided that while there was a bit of beach  left I'd re-fly my access. I started zipping down the beach fighting  to 'hold the line' and keep the bug on the ground. This is the point  when I got my top speed. I am very excited about it! I and was  totally covered in sand and soaked to the skin and grinning ear to ear.

Stories/excuses

Wind blowing across the beach, and tide meant only about 300m to operate in, including run off area, Fastest I'd managed before was about 21 mph. First run was 28.1mph before I had to spin the 'phoon round. Got up to around 15mph, upwind to try and make some space. Third run, the 'phoon was sliding sideways and I KNEW I'd broken the 30! I started to turn but got spat out of the 'phoon, which then jumped all over me, slamming hard into my shoulder. Luckily I'd just fitted my padded side rail covers, which absorbed the worst of the impact. Without the padding I'd be looking at a broken collar-bone instead of the severe bruising!
